Shops, offices and small industrial units

Commercial jobs range from a small office adding desk power to a shell unit that needs everything from the incoming supply onwards. Many smaller premises run on three-phase supplies, with circuits spread across the phases to keep the load balanced. We install distribution boards, submains and final circuits in trunking, conduit or tray to suit the building.

  • Retail units, offices, workshops and light industrial premises
  • Three-phase distribution boards and submains to outbuildings or mezzanines
  • Containment chosen for the space: dado trunking, conduit, tray or basket
  • Machine and equipment supplies with local isolation

Fit-outs and landlord works

Tenants changing a unit often need the layout reworked, with sockets, data points and lighting moved to suit new partitions. Landlords preparing a unit for letting usually want the installation brought up to date and documented so it is ready for the next occupier. In both cases we work from the drawings and coordinate with other trades on site.

  • Shell, landlord and tenant fit-out electrical work
  • Small power and data positions to match desks and counters
  • Strip-out and making safe of redundant installations
  • Installation certificates issued for new and altered circuits

LED upgrades and emergency lighting

Replacing old fluorescent fittings with LED panels and battens reduces energy use and maintenance, and it is a good time to add daylight or presence controls. Emergency lighting can be installed alongside, covering escape routes, exit signs and open areas, following the guidance in BS 5266. Disruptive work can be arranged outside opening hours where needed.

  • LED panels, high-bay fittings and battens in place of fluorescent tubes
  • Presence and daylight sensors in offices, stores and toilets
  • Maintained and non-maintained emergency lighting and exit signs installed
  • Evening or weekend working can be arranged to avoid disruption

Questions

Common questions

Can electrical work be done outside our opening hours?

Yes, evening or weekend working can be arranged for jobs that would disrupt trading, such as board changes or lighting replacements over a shop floor. We agree the timings with you at quote stage.

Do you work for landlords as well as tenants?

Yes. We carry out landlord works to prepare units for letting and tenant fit-outs to suit a new layout. On shared buildings we coordinate with the landlord or managing agent over access and isolation.

Is it worth upgrading to LED lighting in a small unit?

In most cases, yes. LED fittings use less energy than fluorescent tubes, last considerably longer and avoid the flicker and tube changes of older fittings. Adding sensors in areas that are not always occupied adds to the savings.

Can you install a three-phase distribution board?

Yes. We install and replace three-phase distribution boards, run submains and balance the load across the phases. If the incoming supply itself needs upgrading, that is arranged with the network operator.
